Organic, Herbalised Oils
Panchakarma normally uses individually herbalised sesame oil for its treatments. The herbalising process takes several days and involves as many as 50 different, organic, potency-harvested herbs.

Sesame oil is shown to have anti-carcenogenic and, specifically, anti-melanoma and anti-colon cancer effects.
Moreover, Japanese researchers have shown sesame oil to contain antioxidants, whose potency is increased when the oil is heated-and heating is a traditional part of Ayurvedic preparation of the oil.

In addition, the sesame oil is herbalised according to classic Ayurvedic methods to increase its penetration and effectiveness.

The herbalising process takes several days and involves as many as 75 different herbs.

The Charaka Samhita text explains the benefits of these herbalised oils: " The effect of taking these oils either internally or externally strengthens the 13 agnis ( the digestive fires), purifies the intestines, removes ama ( toxins) from the dhatus ( tissues) such that the dhatus become new, and strengthens the senses thus preventing ageing and giving 100 years of life."

The herbalised oils penetrate the skin and are metabolised by the whole body. They are said to first remove ama ( impurities) from the skin, then to penetrate the tissues and remove blockages and ama from different aspects of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The oils are herbalised according to dosha (body type).
